Matthew & Jenna’s Villa Relocation

As complex challenges go, this project is right up there. The Steadfast team cut a stunning Epsom Villa in half, moved the 2 pieces to a section in Riverhead, then set about restoring the villa to its former glory

The first challenge was to cut the villa in half to allow it to be transported via truck. The house movers provided one option, which involved a chainsaw. Recognising that this was probably a little blunt for a house with such beautiful detailing, Matthew and Jenna elected to have the Steadfast team carefully cut the villa in half, taking care to delicately remove the intricate ceiling trims so they could be reinstated at the new location.

With the villa in two pieces, it was then loaded onto the trucks and transported into place. Only a small number of overhead lines were harmed during the process.

The Steadfast team then had 3 months to bring the Villa back to life. This began by completely gutting and renovating the Villa to its original Heritage. The whole process was to be completed between December 2015 and February 2016 with an ever expanding scope and an unchangeable deadline. A massive effort from the Steadfast team saw the building become weather tight at about 1pm on the 31st of December, entitling the lads to a few hard-earned beers before getting back into it to hit the February deadline.

The tricky job of piecing back together the original decorative ceilings and matching in new trims which had to be crafted onsite to replicate the old was a great part of the project and gave all the guys a sense and appreciation of true craftsmanship.The end result is stunning and the former glory of this heritage home has been successfully restored for years to come!
