The project turns the existing 3 bedroom 1 bathroom house into a 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom plus study/4th bedroom. Through smart use of space, this was achieved with only a minor increase to the building footprint. The home also features two family living areas, one of which can be closed off and separated using large custom made full height stacking recessed sliders. Brand new external stacking sliders also stack back to reveal a vast Kwila deck, which significantly improves the indoor-outdoor flow. Steadfast project leader Josh Dickson can attest to just how big the deck is, having carried all the timber to site because of an absent apprentice. The deck also features a new PSP clear roof canopy which provides great all-weather use.
With a growing scope, managing multiple council amendments became a bit of challenge, but proactive management (read lots of time spent on the phone) ensured the site works proceeded as planned. This was important because the difficult site access meant a neighbour’s driveway had to be utilised to bring machinery in, subsequently every effort needed to be made to ensure disruption to their lives was minimised.
Inside it was key to maintain a safe living environment that was completely separate to the construction zone. This was achieved by attacking the build with a stage delivery method.
Ultimately the project has delivered David & Anita a home that better suits their requirements and lifestyle. Care has also been taken to ensure that the building exceeds current building standards, future-proofing David & Anita’s investment.
Josh and Matt were recommended to us by friends who had used Steadfast for a major renovation. From our initial meeting with Josh through to the completion of the project the entire Steadfast team were excellent, particularly as we were living in the home during part of the renovation. Great communication and workmanship, they were exceptionally tidy and nothing was a problem, including multiple issues as can arise with renovating an older home. Aside from the getting the job done well an area where they excelled that had a big impact on us was the whole team’s manners and friendliness, even to our 3 year old who really looked forward to Josh arriving each morning. It goes to show, there are probably plenty of building companies that could have completed our job, but it really is the small things that make a difference. Thanks Steadfast. David, Client
